In light of the upcoming election, outrage has been pouring out from every direction regarding the priorities of the American people. One topic, that has been the basis of conflict throughout American history is the right to vote. Back then much of it was targeting a specific type of person, now history may be on the verge of repeating itself. Only now the target could be all of its citizens.
What’s the Story?
It’s not exactly a national concern, if you haven’t heard recently the state of Kansas let it be known that voting isn’t a fundamental right. This stems from lawsuit enforcing officials to match signatures on mail ballots to the voter registration records. The high court argues that the measure violates voting rights under the state’s Bill of Rights.
Why the Concern?
Isn’t it obvious, if you let one get away with something like this, others could follow. It’s not the act so much that concerns me, its all the people that are behind this idea reinforcing it that is concerning. This is a clear indication that the local person’s rights are being taken away and it’s the last ounce of power the common man has. What happens when people realize that their voice don’t matter?
Possible Solution?
For starters, the average person needs to realize that we are the ones that really hold the power. We are the ones that call for the demands. We are the ones that outnumber the powers that be and that they are to represent our needs. Not the other way around. Yet to do that people need to understand that sometimes the only person that has your best interest, is yourself. Lets start accepting what is obviously happening and hold those that have sold themselves out accountable for trying to lead the common folk to the grinder.
